Cypriot Reunification Referendum

EDM number 1040 in 2003-04, proposed by Bob Spink on 26/04/2004.

That this House recognises the overwhelming democratic decision of the Greek Cypriot people to reject the UN plan; regrets that the UN plan did not provide a settlement for the Cyprus problem on a just and acceptable basis; calls for a period of reflection and renegotiation to find a solution that delivers justice for both communities so a plan that is acceptable and sustainable in international law can be put to the communities; and calls on the EU and international community not to take any short-term action that would change the status quo and therefore jeopardise the emergence of a new and acceptable plan.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
