Dorset Arts Weeks 2004

EDM number 1252 in 2003-04, proposed by Annette Brooke on 21/05/2004.

That this House congratulates the organisers of Dorset Arts Weeks 2004, held from 29th May to 13th June, which gives many artists in Dorset the opportunity to exhibit their art and celebrates the amount of diverse and exciting art being created across the country; celebrates the 12th year of this annual event which has grown from strength to strength since 1992, now exhibiting the works of nearly 1,000 artists, art groups and societies at over 362 venues from Lyme Regis to Christchurch over 16 days; notes the encouragement that this week gives to artists, amateur and professional alike, as well as the promotion of access to art for the public; welcomes the innovative schemes established designed to support local artists and promote local art, particularly this year's education project Can Do, through which young people will get to work with local artists; and thanks all the local authorities, county, unitary, district, borough, town, and parish councils, and the Arts Council England for the financial support necessary to make the Arts Weeks a success.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
