Mr Steven Gerrard

EDM number 1417 in 2003-04, proposed by John Pugh on 29/06/2004.

That this House, while recognising the short duration of football careers and the rights of players to secure their future, applauds the decision of Steven Gerrard to remain with Liverpool; recognises that football itself is the loser when only financial motives are in play; regrets the distraction of transfer dealing during international championships; understands the decision of any player to want to play for a team with the passion and pedigree of Liverpool FC; and acknowledges that often what makes football teams great or worthy of support at any level cannot just be bought.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
