QUEEN'S LANCASHIRE REGIMENT

EDM number 1571 in 2003-04, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 21/07/2004.

That this House notes the exemplary record of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment winning more battle honours than any other regiment, being the only regiment ever to have fought on every continent, and winning 19 Victoria Cross medals; recognises that the strength and value in the Queen's Lancashire Regiment rests with its strong recruitment ground in Lancashire and the North West with no shortage of personnel despite many other regiments recruiting from the Lancashire area; and calls on the Ministry of Defence, in the light of today's announcement on the Defence Review, to create a two battalion Queen's Lancashire Regiment in line with the future needs and requirements of the Ministry of Defence.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
