FUTURE OF SCOTLAND'S REGIMENTS

EDM number 1600 in 2003-04, proposed by Pete Wishart on 07/09/2004.

That this House recognises the special contribution the Black Watch and other Scottish regiments have made to defence of the United Kingdom over the centuries and continue to make in dangerous military theatres all over the world today; is disappointed in the Government Strategic Defence Review which has thrown the future of the historic Scottish regiments into doubt; recognises the strong community ties these regiments continue to enjoy, as witnessed by the many campaigns to save these regiments; and calls on the Government to give an assurance that these historic regiments will remain intact and to abandon any plans to further amalgamate remaining regiments.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
