High Commissioner To Mauritius

That this House condemns the demeaning terms used in a letter from the British High Commissioner to Mauritius to the Chagos Islanders in which he notes that the Islanders should not travel to the UK unless they have adequate funds; denounces his lack of understanding of the levels of destitution and discrimination under which the Islanders live in Mauritius and the UK; affirms that the Islanders should be welcomed to the UK after their homeland was taken from them by the UK Government; and calls upon the Government to recall the High Commissioner.
