Bpas

EDM number 1781 in 2003-04, proposed by Ann Widdecombe on 20/10/2004.

That this House notes recent newspaper reports that the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) has been conspiring in the trafficking of post-24 week gestation pregnant women to Spain for illegal abortions; notes the increased physical and psychological risks associated with late-term abortions; further notes that the BPAS receives around 12 million pounds each year in public funding; believes that the BPAS is demonstrating a blatant disregard for the will of Parliament and the law of Spain; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to conduct an immediate inquiry into the activities of the BPAS, to make additional inquiries into the availability of health care and counselling for post-abortion women once they return to this country from Spain and to withhold all public funding of the BPAS pending the results of his inquiries.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
