Fanny Blankers-Koen

EDM number 486 in 2003-04, proposed by Derek Wyatt on 26/01/2004.

That this House pays tribute to the late Fanny Blankers-Koen who died on 25th January aged 85; notes that she won four gold medals at the London 1948 Olympics over seven days at Wembley Stadium including the 100m, the 80m hurdles, the 200m and the 4x100m relay; commends her overall record which included 20 world records and five European titles; and is not surprised that in 1999 she was elected as the greatest female athlete of the 20th century.

This motion has been signed by a total of 45 MPs.
