CYPRUS AND MALTA'S MEMBERSHIP OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

That this House warmly congratulates the forthcoming membership of the European Union by Cyprus and Malta, two Commonwealth countries which belong to the British Islands and Mediterranean Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, with whom many honourable Members of this House have had a very close relationship over many years; and welcomes the positive role that these countries will play within the expanding European Union while retaining their very long and honourable association within the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
