London Gin

EDM number 883 in 2003-04, proposed by Kate Hoey on 23/03/2004.

That this House calls upon the Government to take action at EU level to afford London Gin the same status and protection as Plymouth Gin; notes that Beefeater Gin is the only true London gin as it is distilled in Kennington in the constituency of Vauxhall; calls on the Government to urge the European Commission to come forward with proposals to amend EU Council Regulation 1576/89 laying down general rules on the definition, description and presentation of spirit drinks so that London Gin is registered and enjoys appropriate protection as a spirit drink of character and essential definitive qualities distilled in London.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
