INTERNATIONAL DECADE OF THE WORLD'S INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

That this House notes the end of the United Nations General Assembly's proclaimed International Decade of the World's Indigenous People (1995-2004) which has sought to strengthen international cooperation for the solution of problems faced by indigenous people in the areas of human rights, the environment, development, education and health; recognises the valuable work of organisations like Survival International which has been supporting tribal peoples worldwide since 1969; and calls on her Majesty's Government to continue to recognise and protect the special requirements of indigenous peoples across the world.
