Top Of The Pops

EDM number 255 in 2004-05, proposed by Pete Wishart on 01/12/2004.

That this House notes the decision of the BBC to move Top of the Pops from BBC1 to BBC2; accepts that the decline in single sales and the proliferation of 24-hour music television channels has overseen a decline in viewers; recognises TOTP's 40-year contribution and its iconic and aspirational status in music broadcasting; welcomes the commitment of the BBC to continue to broadcast the programme; and hopes that the move to BBC2 will now secure the programme's future.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
