Peter Hansen And Unrwa

EDM number 562 in 2004-05, proposed by Neil Gerrard on 20/01/2005.

That this House regrets that it appears that Peter Hansen will shortly be leaving his post as Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA); recognises the vital work which UNRWA has carried out under his leadership in providing humanitarian assistance to Palestinian refugees across the Middle East and the public stance he has taken to defend the rights of those refugees; is deeply concerned at reports that his reappointment has been blocked as a result of pressure from the US and Israeli governments; and urges the UK Government to take urgent action to support the reappointment of Peter Hansen.

This motion has been signed by a total of 43 MPs.
