Smoking In Public Places

EDM number 575 in 2004-05, proposed by John Mann on 24/01/2005.

That this House notes the result of the Bassetlaw ballot on smoking in public, carried out in co-operation with the Worksop Guardian; further notes the high response rate consequent on the presence of ballot boxes in pubs, clubs, cafes, newsagents and public places; further notes that 64 per cent. of respondents were in favour of a total ban, 17 per cent. were in favour of smoke-free zones and 19 per cent. were against any ban; recognises that results from ballot boxes located in pubs indicated that 56 per cent. were against any form of ban; and urges the Government to take note of this public consultation.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
