Darfur

EDM number 1116 in 2005-06, proposed by Liam Fox on 24/11/2005.

That this House regards the unfolding genocide in the Sudanese province of Darfur, and the deteriorating security situation, as unacceptable; notes with disappointment the Sudanese government's failure to promote either the cause of economic reform or freedom of expression for all its citizens; expresses concern at the continuing Chinese influence on the Sudanese government which restricts debate at the United Nations; and commends the work of the African Union in maintaining a peacekeeping presence in Sudan despite financial difficulties and continuing violence.

This motion has been signed by a total of 82 MPs.
