Warm Homes Campaign 2005

EDM number 1196 in 2005-06, proposed by Edward Davey on 05/12/2005.

That this House recognises the significant progress made in reducing the number of fuel-poor households from 5.1 million in 1996 to 1.2 million in 2003; is deeply concerned that new research indicates that electricity and gas price rises since 2003 have increased the incidence of fuel poverty by a further million households; welcomes the continued efforts of National Energy Action (NEA) and other fuel poverty campaigners to make hon. Members and other opinion-formers aware of the need for more innovative policies and increased resources to address fuel poverty; and strongly supports NEA's Warm Home Campaign 2005, organised with support from Powergen, Eaga and Energy Action Scotland, which focuses attention on energy efficiency investment as the most effective policy to reduce fuel bills, save energy and improve the health and well-being of the most vulnerable households in England.

This motion has been signed by a total of 67 MPs.
