The Pharmaceutical Industry And Nhs Wales Partnership Guidance

EDM number 1214A1 in 2005-06, proposed by Paul Flynn on 07/12/2005.

leave out from `Wales' to end and add `is disappointed with the feeble, self-serving new Code of Practice which allows the drugs industry to continue promoting products with lavish five star hospitality; notes that the British Medical Journal says the code `lacks teeth' and that the editor of the Drugs and Therapeutic Bulletin calls it `fundamentally weak'; is appalled that, following blatant lethal breaches of past codes, the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) has never expelled a member company or forced one to publish a corrective statement; is alarmed that adverse reactions to drugs are a major and growing cause of death; and calls on the ABPI to answer the serious criticism of its conduct by the Select Committee on Health with a new code that would adequately protect the public against the perils of mis-prescribed and over-prescribed drugs.

This is a ammendment to 1214.
