EDM number 1436 in 2005-06, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 20/01/2006.

That this House is alarmed at the behaviour of the Nepalese government in its arrest of key opposition leaders in advance of a planned protest against the King's seizure of absolute power nearly a year ago, and its subsequent implementation of a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the capital; notes that the homes of at least five leading politicians from the alliance of seven major political parties and 78 other senior politicians were raided, with the politicians either arrested or placed under house arrest for a period of 90 days with no visitors; and therefore calls upon the Nepalese government to release these people, as well as the other 300 society leaders and human rights defenders from local districts who were also arrested, with a view to allowing a peaceful protest to take place.

This motion has been signed by a total of 47 MPs.
