Killing Of Civilians In Andijan (No. 1)

EDM number 191 in 2005-06, proposed by Harry Cohen on 24/05/2005.

That this House condemns the murder of many hundred civilians in the Uzbek city of Andijan by military forces of the Uzbek regime; rejects the claim of the regime that those killed, many of them demonstrating against a Stalin-type show trial of businessmen, were Muslim extremists; notes that the Uzbek Government of President Karimov, which in the past has killed Muslim prisoners in boiling water, dismisses any opposition to it as `coming from Muslim extremists'; and considers this slaughter of protesters as deplorable as the killing of students in Tiananmen Square.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
