Killing Of Civilians In Andijan (No. 3)

EDM number 193 in 2005-06, proposed by Harry Cohen on 24/05/2005.

That this House, in regard to the recent killing of civilians in Andijan, Uzbekistan, calls for an unfettered independent investigation of the massacre under the auspices of the UN; further calls for a full account of what the British Ambassador and his staff have done on this matter; urges the Foreign Secretary to withdraw the Ambassador from Uzbekistan as a protest and to condemn unequivocally, which his statements to date have so far failed to do, the slaughter and to urge the Americans and other European Union countries to do likewise; and further calls on him to put pressure on the Karimov regime, as, to date, he has so far failed to do, to end all of its human rights abuses and bring forward a programme for proper democratisation of Uzbekistan both nationally and in its regions.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
