UK Ice Hockey

EDM number 2365 in 2005-06, proposed by Stewart Hosie on 14/06/2006.

That this House is concerned about the lack of adequate insurance cover for professional ice hockey players at many clubs in the UK and notes that contracts have not been fully honoured in terms of paying wages and medical costs for players who have been injured; believes that there is a failure in the governance of ice hockey in the UK; further notes that professional clubs employ a large number of overseas players on work permits, and questions whether this is appropriate given the concerns over the governance of the sport; and calls on the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to investigate fully the governance of professional ice hockey in the UK.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
