Siemens In Durham

EDM number 2736 in 2005-06, proposed by John Cummings on 12/10/2006.

That this House views with alarm the off-shoring of jobs in the Corporate Shared Services Administration and Financial Section of Siemens in Durham; congratulates staff at Siemens in Durham on being recognised as highly-skilled, with the Durham site designated as a UK Centre of Excellence with highly-skilled workers; is concerned at the growing anxiety of Siemens' workers about job security for the future and the impact upon the North East region in general of the continuing trend to off-shore essential and skilled employment in the call centre sector; and calls upon the Government to ensure that proposals to off-shore National Savings work are abandoned.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
