Safia Amajan

EDM number 2781 in 2005-06, proposed by Diana R Johnson on 17/10/2006.

That this House deplores the assassination of Safia Amajan in Kandahar on 25th September 2006 by those regressive forces opposed to her brave and inspiring work promoting the education of girls and young women; and believes that the most fitting memorial to her achievements would be a renewed and steadfast resolution by the international community to secure a modern, free Afghanistan, liberated from Taliban terrorism, in which Afghan women enjoy rights and opportunities on an equal basis to men.

This motion has been signed by a total of 55 MPs.
