Premiership League Inquiry Into Breaches Of Rules By West Ham

EDM number 1425 in 2006-07, proposed by Roger Godsiff on 08/05/2007.

That this House, while recognising the outstanding mangement skills of Alan Curbishley in rejuvenating the form of West Ham, expresses disgust at the decision of the Premier League Commission, which found West Ham guilty of serious breaches of the League's rules, enough to warrant a fine of £5.5 million, but did not deduct any points; notes that Middlesbrough was deducted three points when breaching Premiership rules; further notes that the fine of £5.5 million is a quarter of the guaranteed minimum £20 million plus West Ham will get next season by being in the Premiership; notes that West Ham was found guilty of repeated lying and deceit, that the innocent club relegated in place of the guilty club, West Ham, will automatically lose £28 million and will have to make large-scale redundancies despite the fact that they have done nothing wrong; believes that the Premier League has shown favouritism towards West Ham; and supports any club which pursues other avenues in order to get the natural justice which the Premiership hierarchy is unwilling to give to the less glamorous members of its own Premiership League.
