DEDICATED CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOR WEST YORKSHIRE
EDM number 1497 in 2006-07, proposed by Jon Trickett on 16/05/2007.
That this House deeply regrets the decision of the Leeds Acute Hospital NHS Trust to postpone the submission of a detailed bid for a dedicated children's and maternity hospital for Leeds and West Yorkshire without any consultation with patients, their parents, health professionals, the Strategic Health Authority, the City Council, hon. Members and other supporters of the project; supports the parent campaigners and clinicians who have highlighted the unacceptable shortcomings of children's services and the lack of child and family centred facilities; congratulates the Yorkshire Evening Post on its excellent campaigning, past and present, in support of the hospital; shares parent campaigners' concerns regarding the misleading and inaccurate claims that have emanated from some political quarters regarding the project; and calls on the Government to do everything in its power to get this vitally important project back on track so that a bid can be submitted by the originally intended date of December 2008.
