Tiscali Pipex And Call Centres

EDM number 166 in 2007-08, proposed by John Leech on 08/11/2007.
Categorised under the topics of Employment, Information technology and Telecommunications.

That this House notes with concern that Tiscali Pipex plans to cut 300 jobs at the Christie Fields site in Manchester at the end of 2007, with the possibility of further job losses in 2008; recognises that call centres provide jobs for thousands of Manchester residents and that, as many companies have chosen to outsource their call centre operations to other parts of the world to save money, there has been a fall in customer satisfaction; and therefore urges Tiscali Pipex to reconsider its plans and enter into meaningful discussions with staff to minimise job losses and to retain its workforce in Manchester.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
