Aberystwyth Nightlight And Night Time Economy Projects

EDM number 1327 in 2008-09, proposed by Mark Williams on 22/04/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Anti-social behaviour and Voluntary organisations.

That this House congratulates Rachel and Josh Maynard of St. Michael's Church in Aberystwyth for their establishment of Aberystwyth NightLight in November 2008, which arranges for volunteers to patrol the streets of Aberystwyth at night providing assistance to those in need; thanks both the organisers and the 51 volunteers involved for giving up their time to offer this much needed help; recognises the role of NightLight as part of Ceredigion County Council's innovative Night Time Economy Project, run in conjunction with Dyfed Powys Police, and local businesses and organisations, which seeks to tackle the problems of drunkenness and anti-social behaviour in the town; expresses concern that the Night Time Economy Project has not secured funding for the next year; and hopes that funding for the project will continue, and that this work will continue alongside the excellent contribution made by volunteers.
