Hassan Nur Kul Hawadleh

EDM number 936 in 2008-09, proposed by Andrew Dismore on 02/03/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Offensive weapons.

That this House expresses its sorrow and anger at the needless death of Hassan Nur Kul Hawadleh, son of the last Prime Minister of Somalia, the late Mohammed Hawadleh; further expresses its profound sympathy and condolences to Hassan's mother, grandmother, siblings and extended family; notes that 19 year-old Hassan was yet another innocent victim of a brutal knife attack; recognises that Hassan and his family came to the UK as refugees to escape the violence of Somalia, having since become British citizens, and that the safety that Hassan sought was denied him; further believes that Hassan, a second year university student in construction management, had a life and career ahead of him, now cruelly taken away; and pledges to redouble its efforts to take all the necessary action possible to combat knife crime, so as to reduce and remove the risk of yet more teenage victims of these appalling attacks.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
