Funding Of Greater Manchester Police

EDM number 995 in 2009-10, proposed by Paul Rowen on 03/03/2010.
Categorised under the topics of Police and Standards.

That this House notes Greater Manchester Police's loss of £81.2 million since 2002 owing to the floors and ceilings applied to the Government's funding formula; further notes that the Police Federation have very serious concerns that these cuts will affect services; further notes that training, recruitment and overtime budgets are being cut as a result; also notes that losses in 2009-10 amount to £15 million which would fund over 500 permanent police officers; regrets the funding difficulties faced by Greater Manchester Police; and proposes that changes to the police funding formula are made so that no force is left in this position again.
