That this House notes that the Kurdish community currently forms a significant part of the population of Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey; applauds the fact that since the adoption of a new constitution in 2005 Kurdish has been recognised alongside Arabic as an official language in Iraq; and calls on the governments of Iran, Syria and Turkey to recognise Kurdish as an official language and to permit its teaching in schools as a step towards improving the integration of Kurdish communities in society.
