Travellers In Prison

That this House notes with concern that HM Prison Service has been aware of its failure adequately to address the needs of Irish Travellers in prison in England and Wales; congratulates the charity, the Irish Chaplaincy in Britain, for conducting the first research study to establish the size of the Traveller prisoner population and the particular issues this group faces; and calls on the Government to work with the Prison Service to introduce an effective monitoring process and improve service delivery for Traveller prisoners to reduce recividism.
