Future Of Train Station Ticket Offices

EDM number 2164 in 2010-12, proposed by John Leech on 12/09/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Railways.

That this House notes with concern the report of Sir Roy McNulty recommending the closure of hundreds of ticket offices at train stations which would leave them unstaffed; further notes with concern that this list includes 37 stations in Greater Manchester, five of which are in the City of Manchester at Mauldeth Road, Burnage, East Didsbury, Gorton and Levenshulme; recognises that ticket office staff provide a valuable service to rail passengers and assist in providing security on the station; and therefore calls on the Secretary of State for Transport to reject these proposals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
