That this House congratulates the City of Belfast on Belfast Music Week with MTV which took place from 28 October to 5 November 2011, a celebration of local bands and venues, as well as the wider music industry and community, featuring more than 170 live music performances, workshops, seminars and networking events and culminating in the hosting of the MTV European Music Awards in the city for the first time, broadcast live to approximately 1.2 billion people worldwide; recognises the importance of music, culture, arts and international events to the vibrancy of city life in Belfast and to the wider Northern Ireland economy, promoting tourism and projecting a positive image of the city to an international audience; and pays tribute to Belfast City Council and its partners in delivering such an outstanding week of events and placing Belfast firmly on the world stage as an international music and events destination.
