Ilkla Moor Baht 'at

EDM number 2449 in 2010-12, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 21/11/2011.
Categorised under the topics of Cultural heritage and Performing arts.

That this House welcomes the campaign of Otley Brass Band to save the Yorkshire anthem, the Ilkla Moor Baht 'at, by teaching the song to youngsters throughout the county; notes the hard work of Gordon Eddison, musical director of Otley Brass Band, who has launched the campaign; further notes that the Baht 'at is an important part of Yorkshire heritage that needs to be preserved in the minds of our young people; is concerned that if young people do not know the song then slowly but surely On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at could die out; encourages the band to continue educating young people about Yorkshire's cultural traditions; and strongly supports the call for a county-wide campaign to save this Yorkshire anthem in 2012.
