Devolving Remploy Factory Subsidy And Assets To Welsh Government

EDM number 2907 in 2010-12, proposed by Geraint Davies on 20/03/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Manufacturing industries and National Assembly for Wales.

That this House notes that the previous administration established the Remploy modernisation fund to help Remploy factories modernise for the future; further notes that the current Government has decided not to use the fund for its intended use to support Remploy factories but has instead announced the closure of 36 Remploy factories with 1,700 disabled workers losing their jobs; furthernotes that the Welsh Government wishes to support Remploy factories in Wales; and therefore calls on the Government to devolve current subsidies and assets underpinning Remploy factories in Wales to the Welsh Government to modernise and support the Remploy factories in Wales.

This motion has been signed by a total of 49 MPs.
