Static Caravans (Value Added Tax)

EDM number 3010 in 2010-12, proposed by Margaret Ritchie on 25/04/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Owner occupation and Taxation.

That this House notes with concern the Government's proposals to make static caravans subject to the standard rate of VAT; recognises that the caravan industry has already been severely hit by the recession, suffering more than 1,500 jobs losses in 2008, and that this measure will put further pressure on the industry; further notes the impact that this measure could have on caravan parks and their surrounding businesses; commends the vital role played by caravanning in the tourism industry notably in rural and coastal communities; and calls on the Government to reconsider this measure.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
