Tax Relief And The Video Games Industry In Nottingham

EDM number 659 in 2010-12, proposed by Christopher Leslie on 27/07/2010.
Categorised under the topics of Arts and Taxation.

That this House notes that the City of Nottingham is rapidly becoming a hub for the UK video games development industry with large software and creative firms including Crytek, Monumental, Anthill, Hotknife and Simple Life Forms; recognises the value that would have accrued had the previous Labour administration's plans for tax relief akin to that available to the film industry been pursued; regrets the decision of the Conservative and Liberal Democratic Government to cancel this planned tax relief; and calls on Treasury and Departmentfor Culture, Olympics,Media andSport Ministers to reconsider this issue and find other policy measures to boost rather than hamper this important part of the economy in Nottingham and nationwide.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
