Chilcot Inquiry

EDM number 1027 in 2012-13, proposed by George Galloway on 05/02/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Iraq and Military operations.

That this House deplores the continuing failure of Sir John Chilcot to deliver his report on the invasion of Iraq almost a decade after hostilities commenced; notes that the Inquiry was announced in June 2009; further notes that following a postponement in 2010 because of the General Election Sir John promised delivery around the end of the year; further notes that in the time he has been working on the report Charles Dickens wrote both Bleak House and Hard Times and made a start on Little Dorrit; further notes that the delay can only benefit the politicians, civil servants and advisers who supported the war; and demands that the final report is delivered in 2013, well before the scheduled 2015 General Election, so that judgment can be passed on some of those most closely involved who may stand for Parliament, such as the former Director of Communications Alastair Campbell.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
