Local Government Boundary Commission For England: Slough

EDM number 593 in 2012-13, proposed by Fiona Mactaggart on 17/10/2012.
Categorised under the topic of Local government.

That this House rejects the Local Government Boundary Commission for England's final recommendations for warding arrangements for the far eastern part of the borough of Slough, which includes a new ward configuration which had been discounted in earlier drafts and had not been included in any submissions from individuals and political groups; believes that these recommendations for warding arrangements run counter to the stated aims of the boundary review, of preferring three member wards with minimum variance from the average ward size; notes thatin these proposals Colnbrook ward has a -12 per cent variance and a one member ward has been created in Foxborough which includes the most deprived community in the town; and calls on the Local Government Boundary Commission to reopen consultation on this aspect of its proposals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs.
