Wind Farms And Property Values

EDM number 691 in 2012-13, proposed by Alan Beith on 06/11/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Housing and Renewable energy.

That this House notes that, whilst there is widespread agreement that wind technology has a part to play in reducing the UK's carbon dioxide emissions, there is genuine concern from many that the value of properties in proximity to wind turbines will reduce; further notes that only limited research has been carried out into the impact of wind turbine proximity on property values and that as a result no compensation can be quantified for owners of property in proximity to wind turbines; and calls on the Government to commission an independent study on the impact of wind turbines on the value of nearby commercial and residential properties.

This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
