Implementing The Living Wage

EDM number 938 in 2012-13, proposed by George Galloway on 17/01/2013.
Categorised under the topic of Pay.

That this House notes that two independent think tanks, the Resolution Foundation and the Institute for Public Policy Research, conclude that implementing the living wage would save the Government 2 billion a year in welfare benefit reductions; and calls on the Government to legislate to implement the living wage, currently 7.45 an hour outside London and 8.55 in the capital, replacing the current minimum wage of 6.14 an hour.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
