Halal Meat In Schools

EDM number 106 in 2013-14, proposed by Keith Vaz on 15/05/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Food, Religion and faith communities and Schools.

That this House is deeply concerned by the recent reports regarding non-Halal meat being served in schools in Leicestershire; notes that some products served to children and presented as Halal were found to contain between 10 and 50 per cent pork; further notes that confidence in supply of Halal meat is of upmost importance for the UK Muslim community; and calls for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to conduct a full inquiry to establish how the companies concerned have been issued Halal certificates and to ensure that other public services serving food are not similarly affected.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
