Direct Train Service From Shrewsbury To London

EDM number 222 in 2013-14, proposed by Daniel Kawczynski on 11/06/2013.
Categorised under the topic of Railways.

That this House regrets Network Rail's rejection of a direct rail link between London and Shrewsbury; acknowledges the damage done to the Shropshire economy since the last rail link between London and Shrewsbury closed in January 2011; notes Virgin Train's complete rejection of Network Rail's decision; further notes the legal action being taken against Network Rail due to missed punctuality targets; calls into question the credibility of Network Rail to make such a decision given its record of regularly missing punctuality targets; and further calls on Network Rail urgently to work with Virgin to review and reverse this decision.
