Public Spending In The West Midlands

EDM number 304 in 2015-16, proposed by Liam Byrne on 14/07/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Public expenditure and Regional planning and development.

That this House notes the Birmingham Post's revelation that public spending per capita in the West Midlands is just £10,793; further notes that this significantly lags behind other major conurbations, including London, Liverpool and Manchester despite the significant levels of regional poverty, the regional productivity gap and the importance of the West Midlands region to the national economic performance; believes that the gap between West Midlands funding is now too wide; calls on the Government to undertake a review of the unfair treatment of the West Midlands and correct the gap in the Comprehensive Spending Review.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
