Reduction Of VAT On Tourism

EDM number 533 in 2015-16, proposed by Mark Williams on 19/10/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Employment, Taxation and Tourism.

That this House notes that over 170,000 people are employed directly and indirectly in tourism and related sectors in Wales; further notes that 44 per cent of people employed in tourism are under 30; believes that measures to support this sector could play a key role in reducing the 18.9 per cent youth unemployment rates in Wales; further believes that the Government should take advantage of EU dispensation for the lower VAT rate on tourism in order to reduce the burden on the tourism industry, enable growth, and better compete internationally; and urges the Government to lower VAT on tourism accommodation and attractions from 20 per cent to five per cent.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
