Political Intimidation In Bangladesh

EDM number 729 in 2017-19, proposed by Jim Fitzpatrick on 21/12/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Asia, Ethnic groups, Human rights, International politics and government and Religion and faith communities.

That this House is deeply concerned that despite the best efforts of the Bangladesh Government, minorities continue to face systemic harassment and threats to their well-being, livelihood and property and are denied freedom of religious worship in Bangladesh; notes that the experience of previous elections shows that there were attempts to use the threat of physical violence to manipulate minority votes; and calls on the Government and political parties in Bangladesh to ensure that the unacceptable targeting of minorities for political gain does not recur.
