Hospital Car Parking For Patients With Brain Injury (No.2)

EDM number 975 in 2017-19, proposed by Robert Halfon on 26/02/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Diseases, Health services and Roads.

That this House notes that brain injury patients requiring lengthy stays in hospital can face considerable car parking costs; recognises that some hospitals offer concessions or free parking for patients with some long-term conditions; regrets that a lack of clear communication leaves some patients unaware of such schemes; further notes that recently the mother of a 21-year-old brain injury patient was not made aware of any concessionary parking; notes that the parent had to pay £10 per day to visit her son for the first four days of his stay; further recognises that hospital car parking charges are a financial burden for patients and visitors; and urges the Government to scrap car parking charges in NHS hospitals in England.
