International Criminal Court (No. 2)

EDM number 1130 in 1997-98, proposed by Jenny Tonge on 24/03/1998.

That this House notes the forthcoming creation of a permanent International Criminal Court in Rome in June and July of this year; notes that there is still debate over prosecutorial independence from the United Nations Security Council; believes that the independence of the Prosecutor of the Court is integral to the Court's chances of success; and strongly urges Her Majesty's Government to support and work for the Court to have autonomy in its right to conduct investigations and to bring prosecutions that will not be constrained by the Security Council.

This motion has been signed by a total of 33 MPs.
