Latvia

EDM number 1134 in 1997-98, proposed by Nick Palmer on 24/03/1998.

That this House notes that Latvian authorities have recently authorised a pro-Nazi rally by SS veterans, but forcibly dispersed a rally of pensioners on the cost of living; further notes the continued Latvian government discrimination according to ethnic origin; and calls upon Latvia to improve its human rights record before its entry into the European Union can be seriously considered.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
