Integrating Motorcycles And Mopeds

EDM number 1605 in 1997-98, proposed by Don Foster on 24/07/1998.

That this House congratulates the Government on its White Paper on the Future of Transport, A New Deal for Transport: Better for Everyone; notes that all parties supported the Bikers Are Voters campaign during the 1997 General Election; is delighted that the Government has upheld the wish of the 113 honourable Members who supported EDM 1119 on motorcycling to include powered two wheelers and to identify their positive role in a fully integrated transport policy; looks forward to the establishment of an advisory group to bring together motorcycle interests and other interested parties to work together on policies such as encouraging further improvements in safety and environmental impact; and supports the new responsibility for local authorities to take account of the contribution that motorcycling can make to local transport and consider specific measures to assist motorcyclists.

This motion has been signed by a total of 49 MPs.
